To mark this recognition, Mogensen now releases a deeply personal tribute to the legendary tenor saxophonist Ben Webster. Spending his final years in Denmark, Webster left an indelible mark on the Danish jazz scene. His unmistakable sound — warm, lyrical, and rooted in the blues — helped raise the level of musicianship across generations and firmly connected Denmark to the international jazz tradition.
Together with a finely attuned quartet, Mogensen presents six iconic jazz standards that Webster once made immortal. These are not mere recreations, but vibrant reinterpretations filled with presence, sensitivity, and deep musical respect.
